The Walk Cafe book club is looking forward to welcoming David Belbin, author of Bone & Cane, to their next get together on Thursday July 28th at 7pm.

A local Nottingham author, David will be reading extracts from his book as well as answering questions about his writing and talking about his life as an author.

For all you Bank Holiday weekenders staying in Notts the Walk Cafe will be open right over the weekend including Bank Holiday Monday from 10am to 6pm. The chefs are cooking up some very tasty specials and the cake display is looking more scrumptious than ever.

Friday 27th May is going to be a huge night at The Walk Cafe.

As part of our new acoustic sessions we’re welcoming Indie-folk troubadour I’m Kingfisher a.k.a. Thomas Denver Jonsson to the Walk Cafe ‘stage’ with supporting solo set from Spaceships are Cool’s Spaceman Rob.

In 2008 Thomas Jonsson was listed in the British newspaper The Times as one of six acts who have taken the Swedish pop scene onwards since ABBA. By 2010, the time had come to release his fourth solo album “Arctic” which is the first one to come out under his brand new musical alias I’m Kingfisher (formerly: Thomas Denver Jonsson). Thomas has recently toured with Ed Harcourt in Scandinavia (Nov ’10) and the album has been released internationally in Europe.

The evening starts at 7pm and if the sun shines we’re planning a barbecue with jugs of Pimms. All in all it’s going to be the perfect way to start the weekend off in style.

Chris Nickson will be coming along to talk at the next book club meeting. He will be talking about his book The Broken Token, taking questions about his inspirations and writing technique as well as giving us a preview of his soon to be published new novel. Chris will also be happy to sign your copy of The Broken Token.

Indie-folk troubadour I’m Kingfisher a.k.a. Thomas Denver Jonsson will be in the UK and performing an intimate, unplugged set at The Walk Cafe, Nottingham on Friday 27th May from 7pm. Expect an evening of music that’s dramatic and full of intense emotions transported through his voice and his acoustic guitar.

Royal Wedding day tomorrow and The Walk Cafe is going all out to make it into a super special day!

If you don’t fancy sitting at home in your jim-jams, on your own with a mug of tea then The Walk Cafe is going to be the place to be. We’re staring early with a wedding breakfast served from 9.30am including scrumptious things like eggs benedict, eggs florentine or smoked salmon with scrambled eggs accompanied with Bucks Fizz.

The big screen TV will be on and following all the pageantry of Kate and Wills big day and from lunchtime on we’ll be serving up a delicious buffet and turning the day into a celebration party.
